Introduction Part Two
Hello, everyone! I hope you're having a fantastic weekend!! As I said in my previous post, I'm starting a new venture. I'm hoping that I can reach as many people as possible with my message. If you're reading this, please feel free to share with your family and friends. I'd be extremely appreciative! My intention for this blog is to educate people on all things disability related. If you have any suggestions, questions, or comments, please don't hesitate to reach out. So, let's jump into this!
I'd like to give you a little more background information about myself. Just in case you haven't read my first post, my name is Elizabeth. I was born with a developmental disability called Cerebral Palsy. For anyone who doesn't know, CP is essentially a brain injury, most commonly occurs at birth. My injury happened at conception. More about that later...For now, let's move on. I'm in my early forties. I have a loving family who has been very supportive of my accomplishments. I'm a college educated, well spoken woman who loves to read, and most recently has gotten back into writing. I attended the University Of Central Florida, and earned my Bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies. I have been looking for employment ever since graduating, but I've struck out multiple times. I haven't given up, but I've been rejected by many companies and businesses. I have no intention of giving up, that is not in my nature. In the meantime, I'm going to do my best, and share my truth. My hope is to give people who are in a similar position as myself some hope. Today's society doesn't exactly understand what impact people such as myself can have on the world. I don't want sympathy, I don't want pity, but I do want respect. I believe I deserve that. Through this blog, I want people to realize that even though I'm in a wheelchair, I'm also just a woman with intricate thoughts and feelings.
Over the next several months, you will get an inside look at how I function in daily life, what I think about certain things. I'm planning on giving insight on some intense, and sometimes intimate topics. I'll say now that I won't beat around the bush. This is my space, and I will speak my mind.
Until next time, please take care of yourselves and others :)
